Inspiration

My inspiration comes from one of the most peaceful civil rights leader in history: Gandhi. He believed, through non-violent disobedience that justice and equality could be reached. Throughout the world, violence and chaos seems to dominate ignorant people’s mind during social change. Non-violent disobedience is the best way to solve social problems.

my metaphors
Gandhi was the heart of India and  his words are stronger than a thousand men.

Hello Classmates

Hey Classmates, My name is Abdigani, i have a lot of nicknames but you guys can call me Abdi. This is my third quarter at OSU and am majoring Mechanical Engineering. In my free time i like to play basketball and soccer, dance, listen to music and hang out with friends...
I haven't been with my dad since i was young so i guess my  mom is my inspiration. She is there for me when i need her the most. I'm not a trouble maker but i think trouble finds me someway. I always get in trouble but my mom don't yell at me like some mothers do to their kids. She just tell me not to do it again even though i don't get in trouble like i used too. I will always love her.

Whats up y'all, So I wrote my Characterization and it was about a close friend of mine. His name was Omarani Mohamed. Here is my two metaphors I used in my exploration; "In a closed mouth, flies do not enter." & "That....Omarani took the shot and the goalkeeper was frozen like ice."
I hope you understand the first one ^_^

From Iggy: Hello

Hey everyone, I'm Iggy; born and raised in Nigeria. I'm a business major at OSU. In my free time, i like to play chess, tennis, soccer, and i also love to travel. I derive my inspiration from my godfather. He raised me from childhood to an adult, teaching me the principles of life, survival, and business...making money. His enormous success can be attributed to the same discipline enforced on him by his father.

Becky

Hello, my name is Becky Leung.  This is my first year here in Marion OSU.  As of right now I  plan on majoring in Medical Technology.  On my free time, I enjoy listening to music, and hanging out with friends. I'm currently still trying to learn how to play the keyboard.
One person that inspires me is  my cousin from California.  He served in the military for 4 years and has given me a lot of advice over the years,  He has lived his life to the fullest and inspired me to do the same.
TA person that has influenced me was a friend named James. He influenced me to play the piano. The two metaphors that I used was "He was a girl at first sight" and "Learning how to play the piano was like making a new language"

Who Inspires Me

My name is David Jeanmougin. This is my third quarter at Ohio State. I am majoring in history. My long term goal is to become an educator. I would like to teach on either the high school or college level. I enjoy spending time with my friends.
I find Stephan Colbert to be inspirational. He has the ability to bring the news in a interesting and humorous way. The show may not be the best source of current events, but many mainstream news sources can be just as biased as Colbert.

I wrote my exploration about my friend Andrew. One metaphor I used was, "He isn't above acting like a clown in order to get a laugh." The other metaphor I used was, "Sometimes his comebacks are so quick and well thought out that it is almost like they are scripted."

Introducing Myself

Hello! My name is Christina Butcher. I am majoring in middle childhood education, concentrations of English and History. I have tons of little hobbies! I do everything from painting and writing to shooting my .9 mil hand gun. My family hunts a lot, being from West Virginia that's how we get all the meat we eat through out the year. Except chicken of course, I don't normally see free range chicken; even in WV. Shooting was one of those natural things for me to learn, I don't hunt but I do love to shoot. I am a published poet for a charity site, meaning I write the poems they take the money earned from selling the book it's in and it goes to ovarian cancer research. (This recently closed down from lack of interest, sadly) But I also play video games, not a lot, mostly the kids games, like Mario Party 9 and Little Big Planet 1 and 2; but once in a while I'll enjoy playing a round of left4dead and MW games.

A person that inspires me is my high school home schooling tutor, her name is Susan Kaculis, I was in a bad place in life having just had a soft ball sized tumor off my ovary along with many smaller ones, then 7 tumors taken off my tail bone within a year span. Then my high school refused to help me with my school work, until they provided me with my tutor. Every day no matter how bitter I acted towards her she was kind to me. She always helped me when I needed it, and went beyond what was asked of her job. As a Christian she revived my faith in God, in the simple matter that he always provides for us. But I'll refrain from getting on my soap box.

And that's all for now folks
Christina Butcher
P.S. I am a dork, I wont apologize for it, but be warned I say things I do not mean. So don't take it to heart.

"His eyes are a dark midnight blue with silvery-gray lightening bolts reaching out from the pupils"
"He never takes things people say to heart, I admire that since I normally wear my emotions on my sleeve"
These are two metaphors I chose out of my paper to share with you all.

  • "There are no secret economies that nourish the poor; on the contrary, there are a host of special costs." (Page 147 paragraph 8) This struck me pretty deep; seeing as many people believe that the poor get hand outs because of things like welfare. When in reality they are criticized even more strongly then they are for being in the situation to first need the help. She goes on saying that if you can't get two months' rent to secure a cheap apartment then you end up having to pay even more. Growing up in a lower class; where my Aunt would buy a can of mini wienies and my mom boxes of cheap-o mac'n'cheese so that our families could have a real meal, it is hard to believe how people react when you can't get them the money they want int he amount of time they want.
  • This is in WV. Yellow house. Car port. And behind that you can barely see is the old barn
  • I have never had a job, partially because I was very ill all throughout high school so I never had a change too. But in middle school before I became ill I did help my grandparents in West Virginia by working in the barn. We did many many jobs while in the barn, from butchering deer to working on a boat. this didn't exactly happen to me, but I was witness too it and learned from her mistakes. This one particular time we had a deer hanging up by it's feet cutting out the rib meat and my grandfather had left it's bladder in the caucus (we still don't understand why he did so). But it was in our way of getting out the last little bit of meat, my grandmother decided she would cut the bladder out and all would be fine. Keep in mind my grandmother is a short 5 feet 2 inches tall through out the rest of this little story, she had to get a step ladder out and use it in order to reach where she needed to cut as to not get the contents all over her. This did not work because she could still barely reach it. She slipped at the last minute and made the bag bust sending everything inside into her face and all over her clothes. Moral of the story; if the person before you didn't do their job correctly, do not try and do it yourself when you don't know what you are doing, and if you need help, go ask for it. Or else you may smell like deer pee for a week.

My grandfather had a lot of mounts of deer all of which he has killed, he knew better then to leave the innards. (2008, he has added much more since then, including a bear, albino deer, a turkey and many many squirrels.

Kelsie Phillips

MAY 29, 2012
Hey, my name is Kelsie Phillips! My major is Early Childhood Education. I am taking History 151, English 110, and Math 104 as my classes this quarter. I am a freshman right now. I work at the Dairy Queen in Marion and usually when I am not at school I am working, hanging out with my family/friends, or shopping. My favorite color is purple. I would say that someone who inspires me is my mom. I know that is not someone famous or anything but she has been there for me every time that I have needed her and I love her for that.

APRIL 3, 2012
My exploration 2 was about my best friend Marjolaine.
  • She is as pretty as a picture with her long legs, long dirty blonde hair and bright blue eyes.
  •  One thing that we had in common was shopping, when we would go into a store we were like kids in a candy store.

My Metaphors

Hey, my name is Cassia Cramer. I'm majoring in political science with a minor in history in order to do a law program. My hobbies are playing tennis, hockey, golf basically any type of sport in my free time.  The person that inspires me the most would have to be my mom. She has been a single parent since I was four and works really hard to provide for my family. My mom had to drop out of college in order to take care of my Grandma when she was sick. Without a college education she has managed to get a job in medical sales and is now head sales rep and supervises the sales for the Midwest and southern states. She overcame every situation she has been put in and that is why she is my inspiration.

My two metaphors:

When my friend Hayley talks she uses her hands so much it looks like she is attempting to land a plane.

I look like I'm about to start sweating bricks when Hayley being the odd one she is starts to burst out hysterically laughing.

Inspiration!

Hey I'm Harmony! I am majoring in nursing! I run in my free time and I hang out with my family and friends. My mama is someone who has inspired me. She is my best friend and she is always there. It's always helpful having her around. I have learned a lot from my mom and I appreciate her very much. She inspires me!

Harmony:)

Metaphors:
She is as tall as a mountain compared to me. In a sea of faces, she would stand out with her hair    because it is as red as fire.

About me...

Hey, my name is Nate McCready, and I am a freshman from Upper Arlington  (5 minutes away from main campus). I currently have an apartment in Marion 10 minutes away and live with 2 other guys. I am studying to become an engineer, and hopefully will become a Biomedical Engineer or a Civil Engineer. I enjoy working out, hanging out with friends, and going outside and being active by; playing sports, going out on ATVs’, or even Kayaking.
I really don’t have very many role models, but one off the top of my head would Moshe Kai Cavalin. Moshe is an 11 year old boy, who was initally enrolled in college at the age of 8 and graduated with 2 associates degrees with a 4.0 at the age of 11! It seems that congenitally, role models are older figures, ones who are wise and have done great accomplishments in their lives, but Moshe is a great example of how even younger people can be role models too. I Find Moshe to be a role model because he really shows how hard work can make anyone succeed, even if you are 10 years younger than the average college students in your classes.
